D82/84/87     SERCO 08417 £11.99/£7.99/£5.99 Serco is a world-wide service and outsourcing company that has a joint venture partnership with Dutch train operator NedRailways. Serco-NedRailways runs the UK's largest modern passenger rail franchise, Northern Rail, and also runs Merseyrail. Serco has also operated the London Docklands Light Railway (DLR) since 1997. Allocated to the Serco Railtest AEA Technology depot, Class 08 shunter 08417 carried Serco branded all over BR Blue livery during 2009. In February 2010 it was repainted in the red and grey livery, with all the same logos (a wider spacing between the letters) and notices. It has often been seen shunting departmental coaches in the RTC sidings at Derby. Daryl Saxton repainted the model shown above. 08417 has a nose end box fitted on the left side (the other side to that shown), with middle battery boxes on both sides, but there is no cab end box on the left side. Cab doors have an indented rectangular panel. For example: Hornby's BR Blue 08402 (R2418) and weathered 08419 (R2591), plus Green yellow nose D3200 (R2589) were of this body type. Bachmann's BR Blue 08243/08375 (32-111/A) were the same, along with an earlier weathered club model of 08507 (32-102Z).
